David Anthony Simpson, 67, died from cancer on Friday, August 18, 2023, at his home in Occoquan, Va. Booty (to family and old friends) was raised in rural Burke, attended church (and mowed the lawn) at St Mary’s Historic Church where he later married his soulmate, Terre, in 1990. He graduated from Robinson Secondary School in 1974.
David was a driven entrepreneur, founding Simpson Heating and Cooling and then Tin Man Sheet Metal, which continues to operate in Manassas. He previously owned Air Treatment Company and co-owned the Saltaire Cottage Court in the Outer Banks. “SuperDave” was a badass mountain biker, a steadfast VA Cavaliers fan, and, for 44 years, a grateful member of AA. He enjoyed boating and hiking and camping, especially the father-son canoe trip every August. He loved nature and travel-trailering around the country with Terre. But most of all, he adored his family.
We will miss his curiosity and zest for life, his startling belly laugh, great sense of humor, and kindness toward all. David is survived by his wife, Terre; his son, Nate; his daughter, Maddie; his sisters, Teresa and Nancy; and his brothers, Jim, John, Joe, Ace and Jake. The wake will be held on Wednesday, August 23, from 5-8 pm at Everly Funeral Home in Falls Church. A funeral service is scheduled on Friday, August 25, at 1:30 pm at St. Mary of Sorrows on Sideburn Road in Fairfax, with a reception to follow.
