Gwenn Ann Lanks

Gwenn Ann Lanks passed away peacefully on December 30, 2022 in Arlington, VA at the age of 76.

A talented reading specialist for over 30 years, mom for 47 and Grammy for 12, she was wonderful in all endeavors.

Gwenn earned an undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and a master's degree from the University of Delaware.

A staunch supporter of higher learning, she instilled the importance of education in her children and grandchildren.

One of her proudest accomplishments was sending her daughters to private universities as a single mom.

She shaped hundreds of students into life-long readers with the same kindness and nurturing she gave her family.

A wonderful champion of good, she worked hard to give those she loved the support they needed to excel.

In turn she built a loving tribe of family and friends who were all there for her through to the end.

Gwenn will be missed by many, including her family in Falls Church, VA (daughter, Amy Heather Freestone, as well as grandsons, William Henry Freestone IV and Benjamin Brody Freestone)

and her sisters, Gail Rinehart and Lorraine Sigovich, and niece, Kristin Sigovich in Philadelphia, PA. She joins her daughter, Susan Meredith Lanks, in rest.
